Rev. Dr. De Witt Burton Thompson, pastor of the Park Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, speaks at the laying of the cornerstone of Temple Agudath Jeshorim. Exercises consisted of addresses by Max Lowenstein, past president of the congregation, Rev. Maurice H. Harris of Temple Israel, Rev. Dr. David Davidson, rabbi of the congregation, and Rev. Thompson of the Park Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church. The temple building being replaced had been the second church building of the Park Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church and was sold to congregation Agudath Jeshorim in July 1882. View the article.
